The Child and Family Welfare Association of Australia (CAFWAA) is the national peak body representing community based organisations providing services to vulnerable children, young people and families. One of CAFWAA’s aims is to support national policy development and advocacy by providing access to cutting-edge research and practice initiatives. To this end, CAFWAA partners with a state peak body every second year to host a symposium focused on family support initiatives and enhancing practitioner knowledge. Four biennial symposia have been held to date:

The Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) is presenting its national conference - Transforming Australia for our children’s future: Making prevention work - in Melbourne on 2 - 4 September 2009.
This conference will focus on how we can best learn from one another and work together to innovate and take action to improve outcomes for young Australians. It will explore pathways to success, and showcase preventive innovations that are improving the lives of children and young people.
